Without excessive fanfare and almost an afterthought, I must announce that my long-promised novel, Victory Ruins, has been released to the world. Last month, in fact. It’s not from neglect or disinterest or embarrassment that I failed to post here about it — I’ve just been very busy with it. Proofing, formatting, scheduling; proofing again after finding glaring errors, formatting again; putting in a whole scene that got left out somehow, formatting yet again; and the requisite social media posting for such an endeavour. On top of that, the normal forty-plus hours at the day job, tending the victory garden, getting in car accidents. Has it really only been a month?
I’m trying an experiment: I am releasing a chapter every week on Patreon, Fridays at 0900 EST. Subscribers (a bargain at $4 a month) get access to every chapter (in ebook format) first, plus the finished ebook in October, and a personal thank you in the back of the book when it’s all said and done. Already I have dropped through Chapter 6, and Chapter 7 will be out this June 1. If you like to catch up and get all the forthcoming chapters, you can subscribe here: https://www.patreon.com/troopb
I’ll also be posting about how I wrote Victory Ruins on the Patreon site, explaining character creation, historical background, techniques, and the like. I may post some of it here later, but for now, it will be exclusive to Patreon subscribers.
If ebooks are not your thing (they are not mine), then the paperback will be out this fall. And perhaps a hardback after. I have another book (or two) in the works, and Patreon may be the release vehicle for that as we'll. We shall see. Stay tuned, and all pleasure to you in reading.
